Weight
On July 16th 2008 at 10 am I went into Genesis Center for Bariatric Surgery. I had the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass. I started out at a weight of 370 pounds with a BMI of 62. I have lost a total of 148 pounds as of July 24 2009 with a BMI of 39.3. I still have approximately 72 pounds left to reach my goal of 150 pounds with a BMI of 26.6. As the months went by I began to notice a lot of changes to my body. I could now walk more than ten steps without gasping for air. I could almost tie my own shoes. Which was impossible before. Soon I could walk through stores without using the cart as a means of support. I could park the car farther and farther away. Now I can walk on average 6.5 miles without breaking a sweat.
I can even remember the thrill on the day I realized my legs no longer rubbed. All my life my legs have rubbed together. When I could see I actually had toes and could look at them while standing up. I can touch the floor behind me, while bending over forward.
I am cold all the time now. I was able to go with out a coat all winter without even feeling the cold. Now I wear three shirts and a heavy coat and am still cold. LOL But it is Oh So Worth It!
My Face is no longer a round ball and I have a neck. I like what I see in the mirror. I still have those days when I feel real fat. But that is when I break out the photos of then and now. What a change there is.
And I CAN CROSS MY LEGS!!!!! My whole life I never could cross my legs. Yes I could put my foot on my knee for short periods of time but never lay my knee over the other knee and swing my foot. What a wonderful feeling.
I can remember sitting in Wal-Marts changing room with a new pair of jeans and shirt on, I had just pulled them off the racks. I called mom in tears because they fit. I could never to that before everything was to small. You know what my mother said to me. Oh grow up and pull yourself together. Doesn’t matter she could never smash that wonderful feeling of joy.
Oh and something else. Before I couldn’t get a 20 inch necklace on because it fit to snug on my neck and was uncomfortable. Check the photo out I have 16 inch necklace on LOL Feels so good!
